Al-Qaeda claims responsibility for deadly Baghdad bombing
An Al-Qaeda group, the Islamic State of Iraq, has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s suicide bombing in a Baghdad army recruitment centre that killed 59 people and wounded 100.

The group said the attack targeted a group of Shia-Muslims “who sold their faith for money and to be a tool in the war on the Iraq Sunnis”, according to the Site group which monitors
Islamist websites.
Al-Qaeda’s leaders are all Sunni-Muslims while the majority of Iraqis are Shia.
The attack, coming during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, was Iraq’s deadliest this year and came ahead of the withdrawal of the last US combat troops.
The attack had the markings of Al-Qaeda, Iraqi security spokesperson Major General Qassim Atta said earlier.
“You can see it in the timing, the circumstances, the target and the style of the attack,” he claimed.
