Peace process still uncertain after Palestine prisoner release

Issued on:

Jubilant crowds met 26 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel on Wednesday. They are the second batch to be released out of a total of 104 prisonders convicted of killing Israelis before the Oslo Accord was signed 20 years ago. Israel agreed to release them as a stepping stone to restarting peace talks that have been stalled for three years. But the release led Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make another annoucement that could jeopardise the talks. Former Palestinian presidential candidate and current MP Mustafa Barghouti discusses what is at stake.
