Iran's missile testing sends mixed messages to Washington

Issued on:

The Iranian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday that it had succesfully tested new missiles, capable of destroying all types of enemy military equipment. The United States declared the missile program a dangerous threat to the region. This just days after reports that Iranian warships were en route to US maritime borders, a claim the Pentagon has denied. Meanwhile on Tuesday, Iranian President Hassan Rohani delivered a speech decrying what he called "the humiliation by foreign powers or America." Iran, and Rohani in particular, had been viewed as favouring a diplomatic rapprochement with the US. RFI spoke to Ebrahim Afsah, an expert on International law and Iran, to discuss the mixed messages coming from the Islamic Republic.
