Weekend heatwave predicted in Loire and Rhone areas
The Rhone and Loire areas of France have been placed on heatwave alert for this weekend, as this year’s unpredictable summer continues to surprise locals and tourists alike.

Temperatures are expected to hit 39°C in the cities of Lyon and Saint-Etienne, according to forecasters Météo France, which has declared an orange alert for the two départements.
A number of other areas around Lyon and in Aquitaine are on a lower yellow alert.
During an orange alert people are advised to drink 1.5 litres of water a day and to splash water on their bodies several times. Elderly people are advised to stay indoors between 11 am and 9 pm.
After the hottest spring since 1900, July and much of August have seen unseasonal rain interrupting the sunshine.
That has confounded predictions of an abnormally early, and tasty, grape harvest. This year’s vendanges in Bordeaux will only be 10 days earlier than usual, it was announced Friday.
