Deaths on French roads rose in October after 10 months of decline, road safety officials announced on Friday. The number of non-fatal injuries went down year on year.

The number of people killed in road accidents in France in October 2013 was 2.7 per cent higher than in October 2012 with 307 fatalities compared to 299, official figures showed.
The rise comes after 10 months of improvement.
For the first 10 months of the year the number of deaths fell 11.4 per cent, representing "248 lives saved", the national road safety body announced on Friday.
October's figures were not all bad news.
The number of people injured fell 9.5 per cent, at 6,655 compared to 7,355 and the total number of accidents fell 8.4 per cent.
With nights drawing in and weather conditions worsening, officials called on drivers to take extra care this weekend, a long weekend thanks to a public holiday on Monday.
