Extreme right ideas gain ground in France

On the eve of a crucial party congress, the ideas of the extreme right wing party Front National are in the limelight. According to polls published this week Le Monde, more than one in five French people, or 22 per cent, say they view favorably the ideals the party stands for. Among the current voters for the ruling UMP party, this figure is 32 per cent, 12 per cent more than last year.
