Why does Czech Republic support Israel?

It has been a week since the United Nations granted non-member observer state status to the Palestinians. Here in Europe, the vote was split between countries which abstained and others which supported president Mahmoud Abbas's bid. One country however sided with Israel. Czech political scientis Irena Kalhousova explains why and discusses what the vote means for its relationship with the EU.
