Sarkozy meets Merkel in Berlin, fuelling comeback speculation
Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy met German Chancelor Angela Merkel in Berlin in Friday, further fuelling speculation that he plans to run for president again in 2017.

In a speech Sarkozy praised the two countries' "common leadership", which he said would save the euro.
What was said between Merkel and Sarkozy is confidential, a German government spokepserson said.
On a recent visit to Paris Merkel said the meeting was aimed at fostering cooperation between their right-wing political movements.
Sarkozy's party, the UMP, is currently the largest opposition party in France.
It is unclear what Sarkozy's intentions are but some analysts think he may be eyeing a top post in European Union.
Sarkozy promised to quit politics for good after his defeat by Socialist François Hollande during the 2012 presidential elections.
But Hollande‘s historically low approval ratings and the disarray in Sarkozy‘s own party are seen by his supporters as boosting his chances of a comeback.
In Berlin Sarkozy said he has "no intention" of ending his "period of withdrawal from political activity".
But he did not stipulate how long that period might last.
