Protests across Poland against new media law

Issued on:

Poland's latest new law will grant new surveillance powers and allow the government to access digital data. The country's ombudsman said that parts of the law may be unconstitutional in instances were surveillance may be extended to up to 18 months. Human rights group Amnesty International has called the bill as "a major blow to human rights" and a protest is expected later today in front of the presidential office. Over recent weeks, thousands of people across Poland had come out to protest against the government new laws.
