According to opinion polls presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron is the favourite to win the French election this Sunday.

With former US president Barack Obama having publicly backed Macron Thursday in a last-minute intervention, Russia's President Vladimir Putin has already offered his support to the far-right National Front presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen.

During the first round and leading up to the second, Moscow has denied any meddling in the presidential election though French officials have been on the look-out for any signs of Russian interference.
