Philip Turle investigates one of the darker sides of football. The financial ruin of many African families who pay bogus agents to take their sons to France following promises of a bright career in football and a contract with a major club. In most cases, once they arrive in Europe the children are abandoned and the agent disappears with the money. The programme meets a victim and also talks to associations which have been created to help them as well as to the author of a book on the subject by former French high jump champion Maryse Ewanje-Epée.
