Police question L'Oréal heiress aide again

French police detained on Friday the financial advisor of L'Oréal heiress Liliane Bettencourt for questioning. It's the second time that Patrice de Maistre, the financial advisor to France's richest woman has been detained in relation to the affaire which has seen Labour Minister Eric Woerth questioned.

A key member of Sarkozy's administration, he was interviewed by police yesterday and has denied any wrongdoing in the tax-dodging scandal linked to the fortune of the billionaire heiress.

He says he never received any illegal political financing and rejected accusations that there was conflict of interest due to the fact Woerth's wife worked for Maistre's firm.

Patrice de Maistre will not only have to answer questions relating to Woerth's testimony but also to allegations that he had handled illegal payments meant for Sarkozy's presidential election campaign.
