French businessman Édouard de Rothschild immigrates to Israel

Baron Édouard de Rothschild, a French businessman who is the main shareholder of the left-wing French newspaper Libération, has decided to move to Israel. An Israeli newspaper reports that he will maintain his businesses in France, and will live part time at his home in Tel Aviv.

He is to meet with Israeli President Shimon Peres at his home in Jerusalem on Tuesday, reports the Yediot Aharonot newspaper.

Édouard de Rothschild has a fortune worth some 300 million euros. He is the son of Guy de Rothschild, the former present of the Rothschild & Cie bank.

The Rothschild family contributed financially to the founding of the state of Israel at the start of the 20th century.
