French PM says no to drug shooting galleries

The Speaker of France's Senate on Thursday called for a parliamentary commission on whether to establish controlled environments for hard drug consumption after Prime Minister François Fillon rejected the idea on Wednesday. The debate has divided President Nicolas Sarkozy's UMP party, with Marseille mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin, declaring that he would like to open officially run "shooting galleries".
