In May last year, France's then-interior minister, Claude Guéant, sent out a controversial memo, making it harder for foreign students to stay in France to work after their studies. This May, the new Socialist government has announced that it would now be easier for foreign graduates to get work visas. A Paris-based legal counselling firm organised a meeting last week, to explain the changes and to offer a glimmer of hope to students who hope to build a life here in France.
