Urban agriculture – sounds like an oxymoron? Not so much anymore. A growing phenomenon in the US and Canada, now it’s catching on in France: shared gardens are popping up in cities across France, groups of people are getting fruits and vegetables from local farmers. This week we’ll be looking at the growing interest in urban agriculture in a five-part series here on RFI. And it starts with bees – cities are ideal environments for them, as there are more varieties of plants than in monoculture fields in the country. And Paris no longer uses pesticides in city parks. RFI visits some bees in Aubervilliers, just outside of Paris.
