Nuclear energy debate in France

Issued on:

The French President, François Hollande, says he wants less nuclear in France’s energy mix. Right now it makes up about three quarters of French electricity – the President wants to reduce this by half by 2025. And he’s organised a national debate, starting in November and lasting until the middle of next year, about how energy should be produced in France. RFI went to a conference on nuclear power and it seems the industry is only too aware of the uphill battle it faces.
