Mature students grapple with France's baccalauréat exam

Mature students grapple with France's baccalauréat exam

Adults preparing for the "bac" LMA - Lycée municipal d'adultes

Some 660,000 secondary school students across France sit down today for the first of the series of exams which make up the baccalauréat, known as the bac. And among them, some "mature" students who, for whatever reason, left school without it. The bac is still a make-or-break diploma. The more qualifications you have, the better your chances of finding a job in France, noted Education Minister Vincent Peillon recently adding that this was more true in France than in most countries. But not everyone is taking it for professional reasons. RFI reports from the LMA (Paris school for adult education) where around 50 students aged between 21 and 65 have spent the last three years preparing for the bac.
