Mayoral candidates across France are finishing up their first week of official campaigning for council elections on 23 March. In Paris polls put Socialist Anne Hidalgo in the lead against her closest rival from the UMP, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet. They are two of the over 320,000 women running in races around the country. And while that seems like a high number, it’s only 35 per cent of the candidates.
