French National Orchestra plays 'paleomusic' at Natural History Museum

Issued on:

Around 10 thousand years ago, our prehistoric ancestors made pottery and tools out of stone, learnt to farm the land and domesticate animals. It turns out they also listened to music. Last weekend, for the first and last time the public got to hear what this original "rock music" might have sounded like. The French National Orchestra played on stone chimes dating from the New Stone Age and which were brought to France from Africa during the colonial period.
