Housing is a key political issue in France, especially in Paris where rental prices keep increasing beyond the rate of salaries. The lack of affordable housing forces some people to accept sub-standard conditions. The City of Paris recently created a police task force dedicated to investigating unsanitary and sub-standard housing complaints against private landlords. RFI accompanied some of the officers as they made the rounds of some of the city’s worst housing.
