One dead in an avalanche in French Alps
A person died Sunday around noon in an avalanche in the ski station of Auron in the Alpes-Maritimes region in southeastern France, the police announced.

According to the first information gathered by the police, three people triggered the avalanche by skiing off-piste between two ski-lifts.
Two people were unharmed but the third person was victim of a cardiac-arrest and the doctor was unable to resuscitate her.
No information has been given on the identity of the person for the moment.
Heavy snow fell last night in Auron, one of the main ski-stations in the region, as well as in the whole area of the French Alps.
A high amount of snow and ice had left 15,000 drivers stranded in the night of Saturday to Sunday in the Savoie region in southeastern France, forcing them to spend the night in emergency shelters.
