Obama’s participation in COP21 still on, says official

US President Barack Obama still plans to participate in the UN conference on climate change (COP21) that will take place on the outskirts of Paris a fortnight, despite terror attacks that killed 128 people in the French capital. This is according to a US official.

Obama is scheduled to attend the talks which begin in Paris on November 30 reduce the global warming levels. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who is the president of COP21, said on Saturday that the conference would go ahead as planned.

England-France football match on schedule

Meanwhile, the England-France international football friendly scheduled for Tuesday in London will go as planned despite the deadly attacks.

A French football association official said that after the English FA gave an assurance that there was no particular risk in holding the match, it was decided to go ahead.

“If British authorities came to re-evaluate the situation, obviously the question of holding the match or not would be addressed,” he added.

France cancelled all public events including a press conference and a meeting with fans that had been scheduled for Saturday.
