Hollande’s approval rating reaches record low
French President Francois Hollande’s approval rating has reached its lowest level since he assumed office in 2012. According to an Ifop poll published in Journal du dimanche, only 14 per cent of the people are satisfied with his performance, which is down by three points compared to March.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls also sees his rating slip to its lowest since April 2014 at 25 per cent which is down by two points from March.
Among the most disgruntled of the 85 per cent who are unhappy with Hollande’s policies are mid-level employees aged between 35 to 49 years.
Gender wise, women are slightly more dissatisfied than men (86 per cent against 84 per cent).
As far as the political spectrum is concerned, the supporters of Les Republicains party are the most dissatisfied at 96 per cent, followed by the National Font at 95 per cent. Supporters of the Socialist party are less harsh with 56 per cent expressing dissatisfaction.
Interestingly, Hollande’s ratings are half of those compared to former President Nicolas Sarkozy at the same time of his five year tenure in April 2011.
Among the 74 per cent of the French who are unhappy with the actions of Valls, the most dissatisfied are workers aged between 35 to 49 years while men have a higher percentage compared to women (75 per cent against 71 per cent).
Among the political parties, 80 per cent of Les Republicains 81 per cent of the Left front and 90 per cent of the National Front have expressed their dissatisfaction with Valls.
But unlike President Hollande, a majority of Socialist Party supporters are satisfied with the Prime Minister.
The results were based on an online survey that was conducted from April 7 to April 16 among a representative sample of 1,998 people aged 18 and over.
