In this week's Spotlight on France, RFI reports on a new law that aim to criminalise websites that publish false information about abortion that was adopted this month by the National Assembly. The law aims to target sites that pretend to be neutral sources of information on abortion, but are in fact operated by pro-life organisations that want to pressure women into continuing their pregnancies. The issue has become a problem for women looking for information on abortion: the top results of a French Google search of the term avortement -abortion in French- will redirect to websites that appear to be official, government-run sites, but are not.
