French butter crisis for some, vegan bakers say no problem

The price of butter in France has nearly tripled in the last year anda half, and bakers are considering raising the prices of theirpastries to compensate.

Butter is an essential ingredient for traditional French pastries: the
croissant is made of butter and flour, and it's the building block of
many cakes and deserts. So a price increase in butter hits hard.

But not everyone is concerned. Vegan bakers don’t use butter.
