Land Day is an annual commemoration of a 1976 protest by Israeli Arabs against land confiscations, during which six people were killed.

On Tuesday, twelve other people were wounded when Israeli troops opened fire on Land Day demonstrators.

Eleven people, including a nine-year-old boy, were injured east of the town of Khan Yunis. Witnesses said protestors hurled stones at Israeli soldiers at the border before they responded with live rounds.

The violence occurred near the site of clashes that left two Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers dead over the weekend.

A 14-year-old Palestinian was also injured during Land Day demonstrations in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

The Israeli army has made no immediate comment on the reports.
