Smuggling goods through tunnels linking Gaza to Egypt
Since Israel stepped up its blockade of the Gaza Strip in 2006 after Hamas came to power, residents have had to find new ways of importing many vital goods. The blockade restricts the importation of many items, including building materials, which Israel argues could be used to make weapons.
