Al Qaida group behind Beirut blast

A double suicide bombing outside the Iranian embassy in Beirut on Tuesday has killed at least 23 people. The attack was claimed by an al-Qaeda-linked jihadi group, the Abdullah Azzam Brigades. The two blasts also wounded almost 150 people in a southern Beirut stronghold of the Hezbollah movement. This is the first time the Iranian embassy in Lebanon has been targeted. Chahine Ghais, a political scientist in Lebanon, explains the significance of this bombing.
