US Secretary of State John Kerry is in Jerusalem and Ramallah seeking to push forward a peace agreement based on a two-state solution in the Middle East. He says he wants both Israel and the Palestinians to agree to an interim deal ahead of more comprehensive negotiations. Earlier, Israel agreed to release 104 prisoners in four batches as part of the talks, but the first two releases were accompanied by the announcement of new settlement construction in the occupied West Bank. Palestinians are retaliating with the threat of legal and diplomatic action. A Palestinian columnist from Al-Monitor.com, Daoud Kuttab comments.
