A century after the genocide, Syrian-Armenians return to their homeland

On 24 April, Armenia marks the centennial of the 1915 massacres by the Ottoman Empire of Armenians living in modern day Turkey. The attacks dispersed Armenians to countries all over the world, including the Middle East. In the last five years, around 15,000 Syrian-Armenians have arrived in Armenia as refugees fleeing the bloodshed of the civil war, trying to build a life for themselves. Conditions in Armenia, a small post-Soviet nation bordering Turkey and Iran, are difficult particularly for those who lost their loved ones and livelihoods. But some have settled down in the Armenian capital and are beginning to slowly rebuild their lives. RFI reports from Yerevan.
