Lebanon's Syrian refugee camps are not official

Issued on:

With almost 2 million refugees in the country, Lebanon has shouldered a heavy burden of Syria's refugee crisis. But unlike Jordan and Turkey, Lebanon adopted a "no camp" policy. This means that there are no official refugee camps in Lebanon, despite the huge numbers. The result is refugees paying high monthly rents to live in one of the unofficial refugee camps that dot the Beka'a valley.
