Restoration work reveals hidden mosaics in Bethlehem's Church

Issued on:

At Christmas for the first time in a long time, mosaics at the Church of the Nativity were visible again. The church is in Bethlehem, in the West Bank, and was built in the fourth century over the site that was believed to be the birthplace of Jesus. The mosaics in the church had been hidden in dirt for hundreds of years. Irris Makler reports on a restoration project that's being run by the Palestinian Authority.
