Ethiopian laugh master giggles others to health

Issued on:

Ethiopian Belachew Girma claims to hold the world record in nonstop laughing. His record of three hours, 6 minutes was set in 2008. For years, the 44-year-old has been using laughter as a form of therapy to help children and adults overcome various forms of handicaps and illness. In June 2011, Girma established Africa’s first “indigenous laughter school” in Addis Ababa. RFI decided to brave the temptation of laughing uncontrollably throughout his investigative report into the self-styled World Laughter Master and the volunteers who are queuing up for his therapy classes.
