  • That Rafael Nadal can be unnerved at the French Open. He was two sets up against Novak Djokovic and leading by a break in the third set when he started to lose sight of the prize. Djokovic reeled off eight games to take the third set and go a break up in the fourth.
  • The weight of history can really drag you down. Everyone was expecting a great match from the beginning because of the stakes. Nadal was going for his 11th grand slam title and his seventh French Open. Djokovic was aiming to complete a career grand slam and also become the first man for 43 years to hold all four majors at the same time. But the crunch didn’t ignite until the fourth set.

  • Rain can sure kill the tension at a tennis match. Djokovic and Nadal came back from the first rain break of 34 mintues with the Serb serving at 3-5 down in the second set. He promptly lost his serve and thus the set..
  • Rain can sure increase the tension. Djokovic was 2-1 up in the fourth set and looking very tasty for a comeback to two sets apiece when the heavens opened up sufficiently for play to be suspended until Monday.
  • Just when you think you have all the narratives covered, there’s always another storyline trying to muscle its way in.
