Lyon kept up their title charge on Saturday night with a 2-0 victory over Evian.

That defeat leaves Evian in the relegation zone - third from bottom - in 18th with 37 points after 35 games.

Clement Grenier and Alexandre Lacazette were on the scoresheet for Lyon who moved three points clear of defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. PSG will attempt to recover top spot on Sunday night with a victory at Nantes.

Though the hosts go into the clash in 11th place with 44 points, they're not mathematically clear of relegation. A point would help secure their survival.

Marseille are back in the hunt for a third place finish - the spot for the qualifying rounds of next season's Uefa Champions League.

They won 2-0 at Metz on Friday night to arrest a slump which torpedoed their chances of the French championship. When Marseille hosted PSG on 5 April at the Velodrome they, Lyon and PSG were separated by two points in the tug for the title.

The 3-2 defeat to PSG was followed by losses at Nantes and Bordeaux and a humiliating 5-3 capitulation at home to Lorient.

But, ever fickle are the gods of football, Marseille's fortunes received a boost on Saturday night when Saint-Etienne lost 1-0 at Bastia to stay fifth in the table with three games to play.
