France suffer England loss ahead of Rugby World Cup

A strong performance up front was not enough to prevent les bleus suffering a 19-14 loss away to England. The hosts started the World Cup warm-up match at Twickenham with two early tries from winger Anthony Watson.

But the strength of France's pack gave Morgan Parra the chance to kick two penalties to make it 12-9 at the break.

A superb Jonny May try saw England pull clear again and although French power cut the deficit to five points, following a Fulgence Ouedraogo try, Stuart Lancaster's side held on.

France have two remaining internationals before the World Cup begins next month - England at the Stade de France next Saturday followed by Scotland at home a fortnight later.

Elsewhere over the weekend: Ireland won 28-22 against Scotland; and South Africa defeated Argentina 26-12.
