Liverpool stage sensational comeback to beat Crystal Palace

Both sides failed to make any impression in the first half as the scoreline read 0-0.

However, it didn’t take long for Crystal Palace to break the deadlock as Joe Ledley scored in the 48th minute with a left footed shot.

Liverpool suffered another setback after James Milner was shown the red card in the 62nd minute for his second foul of the match.

Palace were in control of the match leading 1-0 till the 72nd minute when Roberto Firmino latched on to a failed clearing by McCarthy to score the equalizer.

The goal energized Liverpool which went into an attack mode and nearly took the lead in the 87th minute when a thunderous left foot strike by Alberto Moreno from outside the box hit the right post.

Liverpool’s efforts paid dividends in the 96th minute after Benteke converted the penalty after drawing a foul from Damien Delaney in the penalty area.

With this win, Liverpool are now in seventh place in the championship standings, 16 points off the leaders Leicester City.
