In Group B the winner of the Afghanistan-Zimbabwe clash, which takes place on Saturday, will make it to the main group, called Super 10, of the T20 World Cup.

Off-spinner Mohammad Nabi bagged four wickets to help Afghanistan beat Hong Kong by six wickets. Electing to bat after winning the toss, Hong Kong could manage just 116 runs in their 20 overs. In their reply, Afghanistan reached the target with two overs to spare.

In the other Group B match, Zimbabwe made it twins out of two matches after beating Scotland by 11 runs in a tight encounter.

Batting first, riding on a 36 ball 53 by Sean Williams, Zimbabwe scored 147 runs in 20 overs. Wellington Masakadza’s four wicket haul put brakes on Scotland’s chase as they were dismissed for 136 runs. Both Hong Kong and Scotland are out of the competition.

The match between Oman and The Netherlands was washed away in Dharamsala today due to heavy rain. Bangladesh and Ireland are the other teams in Group A.

One team each from Group A and Group B will qualify for the Super 10 to join the eight Test playing nations.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, which is one of the Super 10 teams, confirmed its participation in the World Cup following security assurances from the Indian government.

Senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official Najam Sethi said the country’s interior minister has given permission to Pakistan's team to play in India.

Diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan have meant there has been no bilateral series between the two countries for more than three years.
