The 23-year-old made the most of a heavy touch from the Austrain's defender Paulo Miranda en-route to scoring, as the Ligue 1 team also won for the first time this season in Group I.

Nice, who were without in-form striker Mario Balotelli, lost their first two group stage games and are now three points away from second-placed Krasnador, who lost 1-0 at home to leaders Schalke.

The closest Salzburg came to an equaliser last night at Red Bull Arena was a second-half shot from Valentino Lazaro that went inches wide. Salzburg are yet to earn a point in the Europa League.

Next for nice in the competition is Salzburg at home and Les Aiglons take on Metz on Sunday in France's top division.
