Netherlands international Arjen Robben opened the scoring at the Allianz Arena in the 18th minute before Lewandowksi’s goals put the champions in command. Thomas Mueller and Douglas Costa added the gloss in the final 15 minutes. It was Mueller’s first goal for 10 games in the Bundesliga.

Bayern return to pole position on goal difference after pacesetters RB Leipzig lost for the first time this season. They were surprisingly undone 1-0 at bottom of the table Ingolstadt. It was an unhappy return to the Audi Sportspark for Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuettl.

He led Ingolstadt for three years before departing for Leipzig in July and he travelled to his old stomping ground with his side boasting Bundesliga’s best away record of five wins and two draws.

But despite constant pressure, Leipzig were unable to breach an Ingolstadt defence guarding Roger’s goal in the 12th minute.

The victory moved Ingolstadt off the foot of the table into 17th place. Darmstadt are the new team at the basement following a 1-0 loss at Freiburg who moved up to eighth.
