55-million-euro wine culture centre for Bordeaux
The mayor of Bordeaux has unveiled ambitious plans to build an international wine culture centre for the city, as part of a strategy to promote the city as the world capital of wine.

The building's spectacular curved design, is supposed to remind passers by of wine flowing through stemmed glasses, and is the work of the French architecture firm X-Tu, and the British agency Casson Mann.
The building is due to open in 2014, on the banks of the river Garonne, near the centre of the city's old wine quarter.
It will be 47 metres tall and have 10 000 metres of space devoted to wine and tourism, including a multi-sensory wine-tasting area.
