Music meets poetry with French gypsy guitarist Titi Robin

Issued on:

Thierry "Titi" Robin is one of France’s finest guitar, bouzouki and oud players. He began playing "crossover" in the '70s before so-called world music became a genre. "[World music] is pure fantasy", he says. "If it does exist, then Chopin and Bach made it too." Titi Robin talks to RFI about his gypsy roots, being a self-taught musician "with a thousand teachers", and the joys of working alongside actor Michael Lonsdale on his latest album L’Ombre d’une Source.
