Air France pilots to strike in September

Airline pilots at Air France are to strike from 15-22 September. The largest pilots’ trade union at the company has issued the strike call to press for more consultation over reorganisation of short and medium-haul flights.

If it goes ahead, the strike will hit domestic and European flights, the SNPL AF Alpa union said on Thursday.

It says it is not against the plan, announced in July, to switch some routes to Air France’s regional arm, Hop!, and its low-cost carrier Transavia.

But it claims there have been no “constructive and structured dialogue”.

“We had the impression that everything was decided in advance,” said SNPL president Jean-Louis Barber.

The union wants Air France to set up a dingle pool of pilots to fly on all its airlines.

Air France airport staff staged strikes in August over wages and working conditions.
