"John Galliano is one of the greatest undisputed talents of all time" said Renzo Rosso whose OTB group controls Margiela.

"I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create", added Rosso who also owns Diesel.

Galliano, 53, spent 15 years at Dior but was sacked in March 2011 following a drunken anti-Semitic tirade in a Paris bar.

Although he was fined he was spared jail after he apologised for his actions which he blamed on alcohol and drugs.

Galliano underwent treatment in an Arizona rehabilitation centre following the scandal.

Since his 2011 disgrace, Galliano has been mostly absent from the fashion stage.

"It's the worst thing I have said in my life" he said to Vanity Fair Magazine, "I was so angry with myself that I just said the most spiteful thing I could."
