France is to introduce border checks for its Paris UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) to be held 30 November to 11 December.

“For a month, we are going to set up checks on borders”, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve told to French radio RMC on Friday.

Cazeneuve referred to “a context of persistent terrorist threats or a danger of disruption to public order” although he insisted that the announcement “is not a suspension of the Schengen agreement.”

The agreement guaranteeing border-free passage through Europe could be suspended “in special circumstances such as these talks,” he added.

More than 80 world leaders, including Barack Obama and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, are to attend the 21st United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held at Le Bourget near Paris.

The conference aims to broker a new global pact to fight global warming.

Cazeneuve has rejected any links with the migrant crisis that Europe is facing with the massive arrival of Syrian migrants.

Sorry but the period of time connection to the operation is exceeded.
