In South Sudan residents of the town of Wau fled to a UN compound yesterday after an armed group arrived, firing guns. Reports say members of the group beat up residents and torched homes. This after at least nine protesters were killed by security forces in Wau one week ago. The attack is the latest tit-for-tat measures after government officials said they would move the county seat from Wau to nearby Bagare. Six bodies were found outside Wau in the bush earlier this week. A civil society activist speaks on condition of anonymity - fearing retaliation if he used his real name.
